PROGRAM NOTES

OMAHA (all the things you could be you are you were) is a piece about memories - their creation, retention, and ultimate dissolution. In order to express this idea, the composition makes very specific demands of the players, who are asked to slip in and out of sync with one another in different ways. Composed at a time when my own grandparents were struggling to retain their memories, it is a very personal piece, and a very sincere one.

Composed for the 2014 New Music on the Point Festival. Premiered by JACK Quartet at Middlebury Town Hall, Middlebury, VT (June 2014).
