F R A N C E S C A is a setting of Ezra Pound’s 1910 poem of the same name. This piece was commissioned by Byrne:Kozar:Duo (Corrine Byrne, soprano and Andrew Kozar, trumpet). The music repeats, distends, and loops Pound’s words in order to create textures that evoke limitless open space. Ideally, it should be performed for a small audience in a reverberant space.

Commissioned by Byrne:Kozar:Duo. Premiered by Byrne:Kozar:Duo at Columbia University’s St. Paul’s Chapel, New York, NY (March 2026).
