The Impossible Object is a very large work for violin and piano. Each movement of the piece is based on a different image created by the Dutch artist M.C. Escher (1898-1972), whose trademark engravings and illustrations frequently portrayed objects or situations which departed the boundaries of what is physically possible. The movements of the work often derive both their structure and their content from the images. Additionally, the piece is full of secret games, codes, and hidden messages.
Premiered by Charlotte Munn-Wood (Violin) and Yumi Suehiro (Piano) at The Cell, New York, NY (May 2015).
