The REVIVALIST is based on my time as a church musician. It strives, in its seven varied movements, to capture something of the essence of the quirks and foibles specific to church work - often in ways that are humorous, but sometimes using language that is very sincere. The piece uses liturgical melodies, both real and imagined, and borrows liberally from the gospel, rock, and funk lexicon.

Premiered by Raymond Kelly, Ana García Caraballos, Andrew Steinberg and Josh Lang in Greenfield Hall, New York, NY (October 2013).
